Pre-Birthday Bash Leaves Birthday Day Blues

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted for a little more than a week. I was recovering form some Birthday fun and needed to take a serious wine break. Once again, I would like to thank my one and only the love of my life, Bob, my Bro J-Dog, Princess Leah, My half Bro Kevin, Jimmy my favorite corn crackin' friend, and the upbeat duo, Rich and Daisy for bringing in the big 38 with me. It was great you guys! Well, until the next day. We went to a Japanese Steak and Sushi House called Hibachi. It's one of those places that grills the food right in front of you and flips stuff around. It was very nice actually. Much better than Benihana's. The service was great and so was the food. They also give the Birthday person a piece of cake with candle. The downfall is that you only get one piece, so we passed it around the table. I think everyone had at least one bite. Everyone except Bob, he is on a strict NO SUGAR diet. Except if it's in wine.

Now, at my age you would think I would know better than to go out to celebrate my Birthday and at the same time promise my daughter that I will be at her 8 o'clock AM soccer tournament in Pueblo, a 2 hour drive from home the next day. The sad part is, for all the misery I went through driving down, very hung over and feeling miserable, I never found her or her game because there were four different schools they were playing at and I went to the wrong one.
How did this happen? It was her Father's fault of course, but let's not blame anyone.

Ok, back to the wine at task. At Hibachi, we ordered a couple of bottles of Buckley's South Australian Merlot, 2002. I think it was $24 per bottle. We must have liked it because we finished both bottles easily. Just kidding, it was good. It had a fruity, plum, blackcurrent spicy flavor. A little on the drier side. The bottle was attractive with a black and white picture of a field with a windmill on it. I was looking for a picture to post, but couldn't find one. Sorry.
Rich didn't like it so much. He said, "Smooth, but too plummy tasting and you need to add a beer blog".
So here it is. Kim's Beer Blog. I hate Sierra Nevada. It is bitter and tastes yucky. Sorry Rich.
